I have a belief that most people with no show socks come across a dysfunctional problem with them. I think that there is a lot of room for improvement with them. When you wear suck little socks on your foot the back (aka heel) part of the sock constantly falls off through the day. Everyone that wears these socks, especially business professionals have this need. This is a need that has always existed although little has been done for consumers to help. I’m 100% that this opportunity for improvement exists. The prototypical customer are men and women of all ages, mostly adults. Not many children wear these types of socks.
Iteration No. 1: Jane Perez
What is a problem you currently have wearing no-show socks?
- They fall off all the time, they show often, and sometimes they wedge into your feet.
When did you identify this problem, or how long did it take you to realize there was aggravation in this?
- The first time wearing them.
If a solution were to arise allowing for these to be more secure on your feet, would you be satisfied?
- I’m never satisfied, so no. Although with the socks, yes.
Review?
- Jane seemed to identify the problem before I told her about what I was going to be asking her. I believe this gives insight that the problem is very much there and an opportunity for improvement.
Iteration No. 2: Stephanie Hencin

- I walk around and everything is fine but deep down inside my shoe, my sock is falling off.
When did you identify this problem, or how long did it take you to realize there was aggravation in this?
- The first wear.
If a solution were to arise allowing for these to be more secure on your feet, would you be satisfied?
- If I felt like the solution was appropriate.
Review?
- I love how she went in depth with how it really aggravated her when she started becoming a consumer of this product.
Iteration No. 3: Chloe Hencin
What is a problem you currently have wearing no-show socks?
- I wear them a lot and none of the brands I have tried stay on my feet.
When did you identify this problem, or how long did it take you to realize there was aggravation in this?
- The first time I wore them was when I noticed how unfunctional they are.
If a solution were to arise allowing for these to be more secure on your feet, would you be satisfied?
- Definitely. I’m surprised there isn’t one already.
Review?
- I love how everyone I interviewed immediately knew what the problem I was going to mention was because it’s such a common problem. This goes to show that there is a lot of opportunity to improve with this issue.
Summary:
- It’s still all there. Everyone I asked felt the same I did and feels it needs improvement.
- I do believe there is more opportunity but not so much as new opportunity,
- I believe customer feedback is a huge influence in marketing your item. If you’re not pleasing your consumers, then who are you going to market to?
No show socks can be so annoying some times. This is for sure an opportunity for improvement as anyone who wears no show socks has been annoyed by the fact that they don't hold your heel well enough. I wonder what could be a solution to this common problem.
ReplyDeleteTo add a male perspective, no-show socks are definitely a pain. I have only owned one pair which never showed, rarely slipped off my heel, and were fairly comfortable. However, the material was so thin I busted a hole in them pretty quickly. If you could come up with a product that looked good (or rather wasn't seen at all), didn't fall off half-way, felt great, and stood the test of time, I would definitely buy a few pairs.
